Ifewumi is an award winning medical doctor, obtaining her medical degree from University College London (UCL) and a Neuroscience graduate from King's College London. She has a long standing interest in healthcare policy and a particular interest in women's rights, sexual health and psychosexual health. She is a trained sex educator with extensive experience working in policy development and with a multitude of healthcare and sexual health organisations including Cancer Research UK, Sexpression:UK and the Family Planning Association. Ifewumi currently sits on the young women's advisory council for Forward:UK - the leading African women-led organisation working to end violence against women and girls. As a result of her advocacy work she has been recognised as one of the top 5 rising stars in healthcare in the UK.
